Hermes Franca Released from UFC Contract

Lightweight Hermes Franca is in the midst of serving a 1 year suspension for testing positive for a banned substance after his title fight with Sean Sherk.

Franca was contacted by other organizations to fight outside of the U.S. over the past few months and has been open about needing the money due to not fighting. He asked the UFC to release him from his contract so he could pursue fighting outside the U.S.

However, the NVAC contacted Franca and said if he fought anywhere while currently suspended in the U.S. he would never be allowed to fight in the U.S. again.

Franca will try to make some money doing seminars and appearances while serving the rest of his suspension which will be over in July.
