Chris Leben Released from Jail

UFC middleweight Chris Leben was released over the weekend from Clackamas County Jail in Oregon City, Oregon after serving a partial sentence for breaking his probation. Leben has been reassigned to home confinement and will technically be under custody until he finishes his sentence on May 23.

"The Ultimate Fighter" season one star was sentenced on May 8 to 35 days in jail for violating his probation stemming from a Driving under the influence arrest in 2005.

Leben, who now resides in Hawaii, turned himself in to authorities on April 30 in order to remove an old warrant and obtain a VISA for his scheduled June 7 fight versus Michael Bisping at UFC 85 in London. Leben was replaced by Jason Day when the UFC concluded that the jail sentence would not allow Leben a sufficient amount of time to train for the fight.

T. Jay Thompson, who hired Leben as the lead instructor at the Icon Sport MMA and Fitness Gym, called this a learning experience for Leben when news came out of the arrest.

"Chris has worked hard the past year to grow both physically, mentally and spiritually. The actions he took to make this fight happen in London show this growth. Chris would like everyone to know he accepts responsibility for his past actions and will face the consequences and continue forward on his journey."

TUF Alum and Funny Guy Blake Bownam Victorious in Pro Debut

Although the May 16 Legends of Fighting show will best be remembered for an already-legendary eight-second double-knockout, the event also marked the professional debut of "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra" cast member Blake Bowman.

Bowman, who entered the 2006 reality series as one of the cast's most inexperienced fighters, suffered a significant knee injury during a preliminary-round loss to Richie Hightower and was knocked out of the competition.

After a total ACL replacement and nine months of rehabilitation, Bowman returned at "LFC 25: Breaking Point" in Indianapolis this past Friday for a swift victory.

Facing fellow first-time pro Kevin Walker, Bowman floored his opponent with a head kick and followed with a left punch that prompted the TKO stoppage just eight seconds into the fight.

If you recall, Bowman was the subject of winner Mac Danzig's tirades saying Bowman doesn't take it seriously. Danzig was a total dick to Bowman and will get his one day.

Also, go on you tube and look up 'double knockout' and watch. Shonie Carter was guest referree and just about panicked. It's amazing.

Sengoku 2 Results

Sengoku 2 took place Sunday with a few big names at the event.

1. Satoru Kitaoka def. Ian James Schaffa via submission (guillotine choke) - R1
2. Mike Pyle def. Dan Hornbuckle via submission (triangle choke) - R1
3. Eiji Mitsuoka def. Kwang Hee Lee via submission (RNC) - R1
4. Jorge Santiago def. Yuki Sasaki via submission (armbar) - R3
5. Yoshihiro Nakao def. Big Jim York via KO - R2
6. Kevin Randleman def. Ryo Kawamura via unanimous decision
7. Roger Gracie def. Yuki Kondo via submission (RNC) - R1
8. Josh Barnett def. Jeff Monson via unanimous decision

Kevin Randleman was in his first fight since 2006. He was suspended a bit for steroids and then had the nastiest staph infection which bore a hole in his leg. The talk of the tournament was Josh Barnett who looked spectacular against Jeff Monson. Monson, who is a former Abu Dahbi grappling champ was stuffed repeatedly by Barnett, who was also in his first fight in quite some time.

These are some serious big names that the UFC is missing out on big time. Just the other day Dana White again stated that the best fighters fight in the UFC. He is clearly wrong on a bunch of levels.
