UFC 83: Kalib Starnes Vs. Nate Quarry

First things first, UFC 84 is now UFC 83 due to the UFC not being able to square a deal with London. The fight card is being spread out among various other fight cards. So UFC 83 will take place in Montreal on April 19th and will feature the title fight between Matt Serra and Georges St. Pierre.

TUF alums Kalib Starnes and Nate 'The Rock' Quarry will meet in a middleweight showdown. This fight is huge for both guys. Starnes has shown flashes but is coming off a loss to Alan Belcher due to a huge gash on Starnes forehead. Prior to that he defeated Chris Leben so Starnes has some credibility to him.

Quarry has fought only once since his highlight real knockout loss to Rich Franklin. He was out of action with a back injury, then split from his team but got back in the cage almost a full 2 years later with a knockout of Pete 'Drago' Sell in the third round. This fight was terrific however it was clear that Sell was winning up to that point.

Starnes has been given opportunity to climb the middleweight ranks but hasn't seized control. Quarry is under some serious pressure because at 35 years old, he's really running out of time and the UFC has a short term memory. A win over Starnes can shoot his ranking up in the thin middleweight division.

Again, a fight that I wouldn't lose any sleep over if I missed it.
