Ed Herman Scheduled for UFC 83

Ed 'Short Fuse' Herman is set to meet Demian Maia, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, at UFC 83. Maia is the current Abu Dahbi Combat Club champion in his weight class and in his debut at UFC 77, he toyed with Ryan Jensen in a grappling session, eventually submitting him with a rear naked choke in the first round.

Herman is on a three-fight win streak after recovering from back-to-back losses to start his UFC tenure. His most recent loss was to TUF killer Jason MacDonald. The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 185-pound finalist most recently avenged a loss from earlier in his career against Joe Doerksen at UFC 78: “Validation” in November 2007, knocking out “El Dirte” in the 3rd round in a pretty lobsided fight.

4 of 5 of Herman's losses have come by submission so he needs to be extra careful with Maia's grappling ability or he'll get knocked down the middleweight peg again.
